Career Services

Becoming a junior  animator, assistant designer, multimedia associate, or cook does not happen overnight – it is a process that starts from your first day on campus. Understanding who you are and where you fit into the range of occupations in your field is the beginning step. Creating a personal network of professional contacts by attending industry events, conventions, mixers, internships and events at The Art Institute of Austin is critical to achieve success in the field. Developing solid marketing materials for yourself, including a creative resume, a well thought-out cover letter, an outstanding portfolio and excellent presentation and interviewing skills also are essential to your growth as a professional in your field.

Students seeking employment while in school are encouraged to work with our Career Services team. Together, you'll explore part-time or full-time job leads that are both general and field-related. Also, get information about internships and what it takes to qualify for work-study opportunities. A quarterly Job Fair is held at the beginning of every quarter in the Student Lounge.

Prior to graduation, you are encouraged to work with a Career Advisor specific to your field of study. Career advisors not only provide job leads compatible with your skills and experience, they can offer an overview of the employment market—along with individualized help in résumé enhancement, job-search techniques, interviewing skills and portfolio presentation. Advisors also work to increase industry awareness of The Art Institute of Austin and its students. Professionals from the design and business community are invited to speak at the school, and potential employers are encouraged to visit every quarterly Portfolio Review.

Local, regional and nationally-recognized companies often utilize Career Services to recruit our qualified grads. The teamwork between Career Services staff members and the graduate's active role in the job-search process helps graduates of The Art Institute of Austin find entry-level positions in their field.

The Art Institute of Austin does not guarantee employment or any particular level of compensation following graduation.
