Program Description
What You’ll Study
The Digital Filmmaking & Video Production program is intended for students who are committed to creative visual storytelling, effective communication, mastery of video production equipment and computer software, and who enjoy working in a highly collaborative environment. Students have the opportunity to learn to create compelling television programming, to use the latest digital production tools, and to receive a comprehensive education in the skills to reach a variety of audiences with video. From concept development and research, through scriptwriting, production, and distribution, graduates will have the opportunity to gain experience essential to pursue entry-level careers in broadcasting, cable TV, advertising, corporate and educational video, the growing field of video for interactive media - streaming media and webcasting on the internet, DVD, and soon, the new generation of video cell phone technology. Students can take advantage of studios, computer labs, and a wide range of industry-utilized software. They can also benefit from working closely with dedicated faculty, many of whom have extensive industry experience, offer real-world insights, and help students develop the collaborative skills, maturity, and confidence necessary for professional development.
Mission Statement
Graduates of the Digital Filmmaking & Video Production program will have the opportunity to learn to formulate, construct, and deliver digital audio, video, and motion graphics. Coursework will familiarize students with advances in high definition video, storage area networks, software toolsets, and industry-related software and equipment.
Career Opportunities
Graduates of the bachelor’s degree program are prepared to seek entry-level positions as camera operator, production assistant, editor, master control operator, or assistant floor director.
