The Art Institute of Austin presents Filmmaker Showcase at Flix Brewhouse
AUSTIN, Texas – With more than 50 submissions from Bachelor of Science in Digital Filmmaking & Video Production students vying for the opportunity to screen their original work on the big screen, The Art Institute of Austin’s, a branch of The Art Institute of Houston, Filmmaker Showcase highlights the college’s talented students. Guests are invited to watch the lights go down and the films light up 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 12 at the Flix Brewhouse (2200 South IH-35, Suite 1B, Round Rock).
The feature length program is a presentation of the best short video and animation work produced by the student body in the previous year. Featured works have been judged by Digital Filmmaking & Video Production instructors of The Art Institute of Austin on their overall technical quality, aesthetic coherence and creative ambition. Of all of the film’s submitted, student produced pieces run anywhere from 3-20 minutes in length and reflect a variety of genres.
The parameters for submission were that the works had to be produced by former or currently enrolled students during the course of their studies, running from group work in fundamentals classes to senior final projects. The final selections are limited in total to the best 90 minutes of material. The screening concludes with student filmmakers discussing their work in a question and answer forum.
The host theater, Flix Brewhouse, echoes the college’s creative edge, with plush chairs surrounding tables and wall to wall screens displaying films. Attendees will dine from the comfort of their seats as The Art Institute of Austin takes to the big screen.
