Designers Statement
Your whole life you plan on someday attending a college, for me I can't believe I am already making decisions on what I want to do for the rest of my life. Right now I am a senior a Cousino high school in Warren, Michigan and I also attend the Career Prep Center. Within the past two years I have taken graphic design classes and have reall been interested in that program. Graphic Design is not just on your computer screen but also all over; on billboards, cereal boxes, the television, etc. I started off with easy projects just getting the basics of design elements and techniques and have improved. My first project was a typography just to show what were were interested in and start to get the idea of how the class was going to run, now I just finished making a playing size monopoly board. Other then just taking graphic design at the career prep center this year, I also decided to put myself into a co-op job through warren consolidated school at a graphic designer for one of their education schools. I have been designing many of different types of flyers there and I just got done making their brochure for winter and spring educational classes that they hold.
By applying to The Art Institute of Michigan and designing a poster for the competition to hopefully receive a scholarship, I hope to be accepted to futher my experience in the graphic design field as well as learn new tips and basics to hand and computer generated drawings. I am also looking foward to learning more about what graphic design really is and the different professions that you can get involved in after you graduate. I think responsibility will play a big role in the college experience and will get you ready for the real world. Then as my bacherlor's degree reaches the end, I would like to be able to have a full-generated portfolio that I can use to help me find a job.
