Without art, our lives would be bland, lifeless, and uneventful. With art, our lives become colorful and exciting. To me, art is a celebration of life. And with this piece I wanted to really express the celebration of life through art. This is why I chose to use a warm color scheme to create movement and energy with the figures in the pattern.
I have decided to pursue a major in graphic design upon my enrollment at The Art Institute of Charleston. I have no doubt that I will have the drive to complete my studies. As long as I can remember, my heart has been set on art and I know it is something that I want to do for the rest of my life. Throughout school, I have always taken as many art classes as I could. These include basic elementary and middle school art classes and also high school art classes such as Art I, II, III, IV, photography and graphic design.
I became interested in the graphic design field after taking a beginner’s graphic design coarse during my sophomore year of high school. I knew that I had found my true passion. Unfortunately, our school did not have the funding for appropriate software for the computers, so I had to create all of my designs by hand. This was a struggle, but at the same time it gave me experience using traditional medias alongside graphic design. Even now, having more knowledge of the Adobe software, I still love to incorporate traditional medias with my designs like I did with this poster incorporating a watercolor study that I had done.
