Carolina Oester, Fashion Design A.S. 2006

Carolina, a former Student Ambassador for California Design College, worked for Notice Apparel part-time while attending classes. Upon graduation, she was immediately employed as a Technical Designer for Seven7 Jeans, traveling often to Hong Kong. Carolina continues to build her career specializing in the denim industry, with J and Company Jeans.

With all of her experience in the real-world of fashion design, Carolina says: “Reap the benefits the school has to offer you. Challenge yourself: you are paying money for higher education, put all of your best effort into everything you do.”

And what advice would she give to students looking to get the most out of their education at California Design College?

“Intern, intern, intern. Even if you are busy out of your mind with school and work. Even one day a week, even if you are at the bottom of the food chain. This does WONDERS for you when you graduate, because that is experience you can add to your resume that already puts you in a valuable hiring position. Be a sponge. Interning allows you to make contacts, learn first hand about the business, understand the lingo, and understand what aspects of the company make it successful or make it problematic. This is experience you can’t pay for. It may be rough, but it’s worth gold.”
