Organizations & Activities
art and design school student

The design industry wants people who have more than just technical skills. At The Art Institute of California — Hollywood, learning doesn't just take place in the classroom. We set up a variety of activities for our students so that they can experience the whole world of design. This is a partial list of activities arranged by Student Affairs.

  • Career Planning Resourses
In order to prepare you for the "real world," we offer a variety of seminars to aid in the career services process. Strategic interviewing skills and resume development seminars as well as motivational alumni and industry guest speakers are a few examples of the resourses available to all students.

  • Company Tours
As a Career Services activity, we have tours to a variety of companies to see the design process firsthand. Often, these tours include the opportunity to meet with the Human Resources Department and to discuss employment opportunities.

  • Alumni Visits
The Art Institute of California — Hollywood has graduates working in virtually every aspect of the design industry. From time to time, our graduates come back to the school to meet with current students and tell them how it "really is." Whether you want to be a designer or a marketer, we can arrange for you to meet with a The Art Institute of California — Hollywood graduate in that specific field.

  • Internships and Externships
If you really want a firsthand look at the design industry, there are unpaid internships and paid externships available. These programs are available for qualified students in the second half of their program.

  • Field Trips
One of the best ways to get to know the design industry is to actually see it. Whether it is a trip to the California Mart (the center of the Los Angeles garment district) or to a design firm, this is a great experience. You will get a behind-the-scenes look at the design business.

  • Peer Tutor Program
Students who have achieved academic excellence in their classes are selected to work for the school and get paid as peer tutors. This allows students to enhance their leadership and teamwork skills while also assisting their fellow students.

  • Academic Seminars
To further enrich technical skills for our students, The Art Institute of California — Hollywood holds monthly seminars that enhance and augment classroom learning. A seminar calendar is posted quarterly.
