Debbie Beltran, 1997 California Design College Graduate

Before Debbie Beltran graduated from California Design College in May of 1997, she worked at Fedco as an Assistant Buyer. Despite the fact that she had no other industry experience, she decided to pursue her dream to become a Designer.

While a student in a 15-month degree program, Debbie also found time to raise two children. Soon after graduation, Debbie went to work at Stony Apparel/Great Escape as an Associate Designer for a label called Eyeshadow PSST. Debbie then moved to Jalate to become the Head Designer for their Junior Sportswear Division. This line of clothing is sold at Sears, JCPenney, Mervyn's, Brassbuckle, Bonton, Body Shop, and Kohl's.

Today, Debbie is working at All Access Apparel as a Designer in their Junior and Kids Department. When we asked Debbie if she had any advice for California Design College students or recent graduates, she said, “You should always maintain a positive approach to your work. By doing so, you will be more productive in the end. Be patient and make a realistic timetable to reach your goals."

“During my education at California Design College, everyone was helpful and cared about my success," she said. “If I needed help, it was available to me."
