Fawad Rahmatian, 1997 California Design College Graduate
Fawad Rahmatian fled his native country, Afghanistan, in 1991 and applied for political asylum to begin life anew in the United States. Fawad hoped to achieve the American dream by pursuing his passion for fashion design and manufacturing.
“My brother operated a women's dress manufacturing facility in my home country so I had some exposure to the industry before I came to this country," says Fawad. “But my education at California Design College really prepared me to work in the world of fashion. I learned about every aspect of the apparel industry during the course of my studies there."
Fawad credits California Design College with “making my wishes come true. The teachers and the administration at California Design College were great, and I am so happy and proud to be able to say that I am a graduate of California Design College." Fawad earned a degree in Fashion Design and “couldn't believe" his luck when California Design College’s Career Services Department went so far as to find employment for him as a 1st Pattern Maker for Azteca Production International. “Azteca produces Calvin Klein merchandise, and I work for the CK Adult Denim Division," he said. “I am doing well and am happy with my position on the Azteca team." Fawad has since been promoted to CAD Production Pattern Maker.
