Siboney Colyer, 1999 California Design College Graduate
Siboney always wanted to be a fashion designer. She had worked in various fashion fields from quality control to jewelry design but realized that computer technology was becoming the fastest growing part of the field. Siboney selected California Design College for its intense computer fashion design training program. “I wanted to be competitive in the industry."
After graduation, Siboney started working as a Lectra Marker/Grader at Guild, the manufacturer of Arizona Jeans for JCPenney. “I am also training two people on Lectra," exclaimed Siboney. “Teaching is challenging but I try to apply all of Shideh's secret tricks." Shideh Shirdel was one of Siboney's instructors. “I've never had a teacher like her before. She was patient and very knowledgeable about the industry."
When Siboney is not working, she tries to attend art shows. She draws her creative inspiration from experimental artists ranging from fine art photographers to contemporary painters.
Siboney's future goals are to continue growing professionally in the fashion industry, focusing on Lectra-related fashion programs, and designing contemporary women's sportswear.
