Joe Turner’s New Works on Canvas Featured at The Ruth Ray Memorial Gallery
Back
The Ruth Ray Memorial Gallery at The Illinois Institute of Art – Schaumburg presents an exhibition by painter Joe Turner and his recent work. Titled Wallflowers, the show is on display at the gallery at 1000 N. Plaza Dr., Schaumburg and is open to the public at no charge Monday – Thursday 8 a.m. – 8 p.m., Fridays 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., and Saturdays 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
A combination of acrylic and graphite, Turner’s paintings on canvas explore the relationship between memory and emotion and how evolving emotion often blurs a memory’s details. Calling upon family photographs as inspiration, Turner’s art also delves into the psychology of close relationships between family members. While Turner’s paintings begin as autobiographical, the final pieces transcend his inspiration and create universal thoughts and feelings that inspire and draw in the viewer.
Turner is an instructor at The Illinois Institute of Art – Schaumburg and has been exhibiting his work for over 10 years. The Wallflowers exhibit marks his second one-man show at The Ruth Ray Memorial Gallery.
The opening reception for the exhibition will take place on Wednesday, July 15 from 2 – 3 p.m. Turner’s show will be on display through July 30. For more information about the exhibit or the college, please contact The Illinois Institute of Art – Schaumburg at 800.314.3450.
