STUDENTS AT THE ART INSTITUTE OF CALIFORNIA-SUNNYVALE DEMAND ALTERNATIVE ENERGY
Back
SUNNYVALE, Calif - Graphic design instructor Darryl Shelton challenged his typography students at The Art Institute of California-Sunnyvale to participate in a class wide competition to create a stimulating advertisement promoting alternative energy in early September. Five designs were selected as top candidates, each communicating a student's point of view on the gas crisis. The top design was created by first quarter Web Design & Interactive Media student, Michelle Ferreira.
Shelton, teaching his second quarter of classes at The Art Institute of California-Sunnyvale, collaborated with campus president Daniel Cardenas to develop a project that would allow students to vent their frustrations over the ever increasing gas prices through a creative medium. Typography, the study of the use and design of type craftsmanship used in developing a communication package, is a core class for students in the Digital Filmmaking & Video Production, Web Design, and Graphic Design programs. The result of the 40 student, multi-discipline challenge- a campaign that represents the hardships faced by the college youth in this poor economy.
