Join us at The Art Institute of Tampa, a branch of Miami International University of Art & Design, on Saturday, November 14 for the Modernism at Risk Gallery reception.  Modernism at Risk is an exhibition exploring the role designers and architects play in saving endangered Modern buildings, with case studies that include works by Marcel Breuer, Paul Rudolph, The Bauhaus, Warren Platner, and Edward Durell Stone, and featuring photographs by Andrew L. Moore.

The Gallery reception is from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at The Art Institute of Tampa located at 4401 N. Himes Ave., Tampa, Florida 33614 (On the corner of Martin Luther King, Jr. & Himes Ave. across the northeast corner of the Bucs stadium). There is no charge for admission. This event is made possible by Knoll, Inc., The World Monuments Fund and the Interior Design program at The Art Institute of Tampa.

One of items featured in this exhibit: Riverview High School (1958) in Sarasota, Florida, a seminal building by Paul Rudolph condemned to be replaced with parking. It received a brief reprieve after an outcry from internationally prominent architects including Charles Gwathmey and Norman Foster helped launch an architectural charette and international design competition to propose new uses for the building as an alternative to its destruction.
