The Acceptance Committee evaluates all applicants on the basis of their previous education, background, stated interests, SAT/ACT scores (not required), or skills assessment results. Criteria may vary by program. Based on the Committee’s assessment of the applicant’s preparedness to undertake The Art Institute of York — Pennsylvania course work, the applicant may be required to complete a student success course, also known as Transitional Studies. This course is four (4) credits However, credits in this course will not satisfy any degree requirements. It is designed to prepare students for long term academic success.
The successful completion of this course is a requirement to continue in the program. All Transitional Studies courses must be completed with a passing grade of “C” or better. These courses will be charged at the current per-credit hour charge. Students enrolled in these Transitional Studies courses may be required to take from four (4) to eight (8) credits in addition to their normal program of study requirements. Failure to successfully complete any Transitional Studies course with a passing grade within three (3) attempts will result in termination.
