Information on credit transfers

 Information on credit transfers

Q: Are my credits transferable to schools outside of The Art Institutes system?
Our programs prepare students for entry-level positions in their field. Therefore, it's unlikely that credits you earn in our schools will be transferable to other schools. We do recommend that you speak with the school where you plan to transfer, to find out if your credits from an Art Institutes school will be accepted.
Q: Are credits transferable from one Art Institutes school to another?
It is the policy of each school in The Art Institutes system of schools to accept transfer students from other schools within the system. However, not all credits you earn at your present school may be transferable to another Art Institutes school and/or program. Programs vary by school due to differences imposed by state law, use of different instructional models and local employer needs. As soon as you anticipate transferring to another Art Institutes school, you should talk to the Dean of Education at your current school. You must also be in good standing at the school from which you are transferring.
Q: What is the minimum grade for a course that will transfer to another Art Institutes school?
A "C" or better is required for the course to transfer..
Q: Will all General Education credits transfer to another Art Institutes school?
Not necessarily, due to differences imposed by state law, licensing, and accreditation.
Q: Is there a residency requirement connected with transferring?
Yes. It is necessary to complete at least the final 25% of your coursework at The Art Institutes school where you will receive your degree.
Q: Can I complete my associate's degree at my current Art Institutes school and then transfer into a bachelor's degree program at another Art Institutes school?
Yes, you can. Remember that the credits accepted for transfer are determined by the receiving school. Due to differences in curricula, accreditation, teaching formats — and based upon the grades you've achieved — some credits may not transfer. Before deciding which school you want to transfer to, contact the Dean of Education at your current school for more information.
