Employer: Walt Disney Imagineering
Job Title: Graphic Designer
"Work hard and love what you do and success will surely be waiting."
—Alex Herrera Jr.

What’s Alex Doing Today?
Alex is working as a graphic designer for Walt Disney Imagineering. He’s part of the Creative-Interactive team, designing interactive attractions and experiences at the Disney Parks and Resorts. Alex is involved with designing presentations and participating in brainstorms for proposed projects that are built in parks and resorts worldwide. He designs presentation boards, keynotes, digital interface mock-ups, technical illustrations, and motion graphics.

Creative Inspiration
Alex is constantly inspired by a career that he describes as “a child’s dream come true.” He states that he loves the atmosphere at Walt Disney Imagineering and can get lost in the history of great artists who have stepped foot in his building. He adds that his coworkers are creative and supportive. “I have a lot of responsibility and people are confident in my work.”

Getting Out There
Starting out as a Media Arts & Animation student at The Art Institute of California, Los Angeles, Alex soon found that graphic design was actually his calling. While a student, he found that his art could be displayed digitally and have a more conceptual driven subject. He pursued an internship at Asylum Design Studio in Culver City, where he was given the responsibility to design promotional collateral for a mountain biking organization that holds yearly festivals. There, he learned the process for bringing his work from concept to full print production. Alex takes this knowledge, and the information gained from his instructors and fellow students, into his work every day.
