Media Arts
The Art Institute of Las Vegas
Employer: Minnesota Twins Baseball Club
Job Title: Production Assistant

2009 Graduate, Bachelor of Science in Digital Film & Video Production, The Art Institute of Las Vegas

As a production assistant for the Minnesota Twins Baseball Club, Andrea Roa has learned that it’s very involved to produce a baseball game. She states that it’s been a learning experience—and one that’s helped her to build teamwork skills with her co-workers. She adds that interacting with “all the individuals it takes to produce a baseball game” is her favorite part of the job. “I love to pick their brains,” she says.

Andrea believes that earning a Bachelor of Science in Digital Film & Video Production degree from The Art Institute of Las Vegas helped to prepare her for her career by giving her a hands-on education. “(The school) allowed me to learn by doing. I am glad I made those mistakes in school and not at work.”

Because software is always changing and improving, Andrea suggests that budding producers stay on top of technology. But she admits that everyone has to start somewhere. “Start your learning somewhere—anywhere—and grow from there.”
