Graphic Design
The Art Institute of Vancouver
Employer: Cushman & Wakefield
Job Title: Senior Graphic Designer
"The instructors are all currently in the industry; their feedback is a great aid with regards to the current market."
—Freda Lin

Freda’s creative career.
Freda has taken her graphic design education and transformed it into an exciting job at Cushman & Wakefield, a global real estate firm based out of Vancouver. In her position as senior graphic designer, she designs and distributes marketing materials, works on advertisements with major newspapers, and creates marketing material guidelines for the entire company

What inspires her.
Inspired by photography and bold illustrations, Freda enjoys expressing vision through design—and uses this philosophy as she creates her projects. Looking to the future of design, she sees a strong influence of technical style designs, bold colors, and clean-cut work. She urges students to think about these trends as they move from school into the marketplace, always remembering that “details matter.”

The path to success.
Freda cites her instructors at The Art Institute of Vancouver with giving her the skills needed to break into the graphic design field. “The instructors are all currently in the industry; their feedback is a great aid with regards to the current market.” She also believes the school’s hands-on education gave her an advantage when it came to competing for jobs. “The projects were diverse and it gave me a chance to cover a broad spectrum of design.”
