"My education helped me realize what the real world was going to be like."
—Jacob Walter

2011 Graduate, Bachelor of Science degree in Web Design & Interactive Media, The Art Institutes International Minnesota

Jacob Walter is working as a junior information architect at Carmichael Lynch, writing technical documentation and creating wireframes and site maps. “What I enjoy most (about my career) is being able to work with a wide variety of people on different projects, and having a collaborative environment to work in,” he says. Jacob adds that each project has its own challenges, which keeps his job interesting and fun.

He’s proud of his ability to meet client objectives, timelines, and milestones. Jacob, who in 2011 earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Web Design & Interactive Media from The Art Institutes International Minnesota, says that his education helped to prepare him for his career.

“My education helped me realize what the real world was going to be like. I can especially thank my portfolio classes for getting me prepared to write technical documentation, create wire frames, site maps, and learning how to present information to a group of people.” He advises current students to keep up to date with current technologies, as well as research what’s coming down the pike. “Another great piece of advice is to network and get involved in different organization and participate with people around you,” he states.
