Class of 2011
Design
The Art Institute of California, Hollywood
Employer: Entertainment Lighting Services (ELS)
Job Title: Concept Designer

2011 Graduate, Bachelor of Science in Set & Exhibit Design, The Art Institute of California,-Hollywood

“There is no typical day at ELS, each day can be completely different from another,” says Josef Giwargis. Working as a concept designer allows him to challenge his creativity because each project is unique. “Some projects have multiple conceptual renderings from various angles, and others can include a fly through of the space as well,” he adds.

Josef, who in 2011 earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Set & Exhibit Design from The Art Institute of California—Hollywood, uses software including Photoshop, Illustrator, 3D Studio Max, Vectorworks, and SketchUp.  “I can’t believe I get paid to do what I love,” he states, adding that his education helped him to prepare for the challenges of a career in exhibit design. “I am so glad I had the opportunity to learn so many different (types of) software which I use throughout my day at work.’”

Joseph advises students interested in exhibit design to take their studies and their career very seriously. “Take every opportunity you get on a project and make it one that counts. At the end of the day, you’re designing for your own success.”
