"Be dedicated to small things and you will not go unnoticed."
—Kate Nornberg

2010 Graduate, Bachelor of Science degree in Interior Design, The Art Institutes International Minnesota

As an associate designer for Historic Studio, Kate Nornberg helps the lead designer to prepare documents, estimate project cost, and create project specs. She also assists local designers in a 7,000 square-foot, one-of-a-kind trade showroom. Her employer is Robb Whittley, a former HGTV segment host. “(I get) to learn from such an incredible entrepreneur and world traveler,” she states.

Kate stays on top of current trends by visiting furniture markets in Atlanta, Las Vegas, and North Carolina with her coworkers. Kate, who in 2010 earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Interior Design from The Art Institutes International Minnesota, believes that her education helped her to fine-tune her communication skills and design knowledge—which helped her to stand out as a candidate when she was job searching.

She recommends that current students network and participate in internships. “Be dedicated to small things and you will not go unnoticed,” she states.
