"I spend eight hours every day expanding my brain in an environment that brings me happiness."
—Mallory Meznarsic
2011 Graduate, Bachelor of Arts degree in Fashion Marketing & Management, The Illinois Institute of Art—Schaumburg
As an allocation analyst for Claire’s, Mallory Meznarsic is responsible for controlling inventories at the store level, as well as analyzing styles to ensure appropriate merchandise is being allocated to the correct stores. Working for the company fulfilled a longtime goal for Mallory. “I wanted to work for Claire’s when I started school. I educated myself on Claire’s philosophy. I created projects revolving around Claire’s so I could show them during my interview,” she says.
Mallory, who in 2011 earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Fashion Marketing & Management degree from The Illinois Institute of Art—Schaumburg, adds that she is fortunate to enjoy her chosen career. “I spend eight hours every day expanding my brain in an environment that brings me happiness.” And she believes that her education helped to prepare her for the fashion industry. “I use all (of) my core fashion classes as well as my general education classes during my work day. The behavioral and professional traits that I learned subconsciously in school are used every day, as well.”
Mallory recommends that budding fashion marketers focus on strengths and work hard to reach goals. “Always be optimistic and positive—people’s attitudes are contagious. Give more than your (employer is) asking for.”
