While still a student, Neil Tan discovered his passion for web design and development. Now he’s working as a web developer for Incase Designs, developing new UI/UX features that challenge him each day. “I enjoy that I get to learn every day on the job in my field of work,” he states.

Neil, who in 2008 earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Web Design & Interactive Media from The Art Institute of California—San Francisco, is influenced by the creative peers with whom he works and studies. “My heroes are people who make an impact in the web industry,” he says. Neil adds that his education prepared him well for the real world. He points out that internships that provided practical experience were especially beneficial to him. “My education prepared me well. Internships and other opportunities that provide practical experience are key to becoming fully prepared.”

Looking forward to the future of his industry, he states that “the next big trends I see are HTML5, CSS3, mobile web development, and more responsive sites with any device that has a screen.”
