Russ Bratcher
Class of 2011
Media Arts
The Art Institute of Charleston
Employer: MVP Group Int.
Job Title: Graphic Designer

2011 Graduate, Bachelor of Fine Arts in Web Design & Interactive Media, The Art Institute of Charleston

As a graphic designer for MVP Group Int, Russ Bratcher is responsible for brand management for web, social media, and print. It’s a job that he describes as “8 hours of a non-stop adventure through the land of candles, websites, and spray glue.”

Russ, who in 2011 earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Web Design & Interactive Media from The Art Institute of Charleston, is influenced by the work of his instructors, magazines including GQ, Martha Stewart Living and Dwell, and artists such as Harry Heissmann, Jay Fletcher, and Amy Reed. He asserts that his instructors’ real world experience was especially helpful to him.  “The technology that we were provided with (at The Art Institute of Charleston) was always upgraded to current standards of the design industry."

Russ advises his fellow designers to “look at their lives objectively and really know that they want this more than a paycheck. It's hard work digging into other people's heads and viewing other cultures without judgment. And discovery work is the most important part of the design process.”
