Arts, Culture, and Entertainment

The rich history we all share through our nation's capital shines through the many monuments and memorials throughout the city. The most popular include the Washington Monument, where visitors can ride an elevator up to the top of the 555-foot stone structure; the Lincoln Memorial, where the stone walls include carved impressions of Abraham Lincoln's most popular speeches, the Vietnam Memorial, a glossy black marble wall engraved with the names of those killed or missing in the Vietnam War and the Thomas Jefferson Memorial. Tours are also offered of the White House, Capitol Building, Arlington National Cemetery, the National Cathedral and many more attractions.

The Smithsonian Institution offers some of the finest museums in the word - and there is no charge for admission. This includes the National Museum of American Art, the National Air & Space Museum, the National Museum of American History and many more. The Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts is nationally acclaimed for staging more than 3,300 performances each year featuring dance, music and theater. Local theaters, clubs and other venues offer an incredible range of entertainment.

Sports fans of all kinds can find something to root for in this city. Washington, DC is home to the Washington Redskins NFL team, the Wizards NBA team, the Capitals NHL team and the DC United Soccer Team. The city also finally has a baseball team of its own. The Washington Nationals play their home games at Nationals Park, DC's newest jewel with panoramic views of the riverfront and city landmarks.
