Alliances

The Art Institute of Washington cultivates alliances with many professional organizations related to our programs of study. Students and faculty benefit from a variety of networking events, forums and conferences which afford opportunities to rub shoulders with top industry professionals. Following is a list of selected partners:

The Art Institute of Washington is a Sustaining Partner of AIGA DC, the professional association for design. AIGA DC is the organization that designers from Maryland, Northern Virginia and the District of Columbia look to first for information, communication, inspiration and representation across the arc of their careers. Our college has a thriving AIGA student chapter, whose members benefit from the educational and networking opportunities at AIGA events. AIGA DC also creates opportunities for the next generation of designers through its Continuum Fund. Each year, scholarship monies are awarded to one or more local high school students who intend to pursue a degree in design.

The International Sommelier Guild (ISG) is the professional body that accredits Sommeliers. The organizations’s highest title is Grand Sommelier. ISG is a valued partner of The International Culinary School at The Art Institute of Washington. The Guild offers a scholarship program exclusive to graduates of our culinary program so they can build on their degrees. The first scholarship is for two back-to-back courses, Wine Fundamentals I and II. Successful completion earns a student the title of Certified Wine Steward. The second scholarship is for the Sommelier Diploma Program which awards the title of Certified Sommelier.
