(Arlington, VA- November 12, 2011)—You can strut your stuff, sashay down a runway, but can you use your fashion smarts to get you one step closer to a career in fashion? The Art Institute of Washington, a branch campus of The Art Institute of Atlanta, is looking for the next high school senior to be the local winner of The Art Institute of Washington Passion for Fashion scholarship competition.
High school seniors with a knack for fashion are invited to the Passion for Fashion workshop on November 12 from 10am to 1pm at The Art Institute of Washington in Arlington to see if they have what it takes to enter and compete in the Fashion Marketing& Merchandising and Retail Management category of the competition.
Seniors, parents and friend are invited to attend the Passion for Fashion workshop where they’ll be submerged in a red carpet experience. First, Fashion & Retail Management students from The Art Institute of Washington will model stylized fall outfits with the latest trends. Attendees will then have the opportunity to participate in a runway challenge where they can create their own fashion designs with surprise materials. Lastly, high school seniors will learn all the competition details and how to enter The Art Institutes Passion for Fashion scholarship competition.
The Art Institutes Passion for Fashion Competition is open to legal residents of the fifty United States, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and Canada (excluding Quebec) who are full-or part-time high school seniors scheduled to graduate in 2012 with a minimum 2.0 cumulative grade point average. Entries must be submitted along with a completed Entry & Release Form to The Art Institutes school the student wishes to represent in the competition.
Two national competition grand prize winners (one in each competition category) will earn a half- tuition scholarship to their respective Art Institutes school, receive a VIP trip to New York City, participate in a “meet and greet” at Seventeen magazine’s New York City offices, have lunch with a Seventeen Style Pro, receive a $500 shopping spree at DKNY with the Style Pro, and a $500 gift card to shop anywhere in the Big Apple.
