The most popular include: the Washington Monument, where visitors can ride an elevator up to the top of the 555-foot stone structure; the Lincoln Memorial, where the stone walls include carved impressions of his most popular speeches; the Vietnam Memorial, a glossy black marble wall engraved with the names of those killed or missing from the Vietnam War; and the Thomas Jefferson Memorial. Tours are also offered of the White House, Capital Building, Arlington National Cemetery, the National Cathedral, and many more attractions.

For the culture buff, Washington, D.C. has one of the most elaborate collections of places to go. The Smithsonian Institutions are some of the finest museums in the world, including the American Art Museum, the National Air and Space Museum, the American History Museum, the Natural History Museum, and more. The Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts is nationally acclaimed for the over 3,300 performances each year including dance, music, and theatre. There are also many local theatres, clubs and events that are sure to ignite your interest.

Sports fans of all areas can enjoy both local and professional-level entertainment. Washington, D.C. is home to the Redskins NFL team, Wizards NBA team, Capitals NHL team, and DC United Soccer Team. For baseball fans, the nearby Baltimore Orioles serve as Washington, D.C.’s home team. Two major sports arenas – the MCI Center and RFK Memorial Stadium – have a combined seating capacity of over 70,000.
