Welcome to The Art Institute of Atlanta-Decatur!
As a branch campus of The Art Institute of Atlanta, we are located in the city of Decatur on the east side of the greater Atlanta area. The Art Institute of Atlanta-Decatur offers the advantages of the main campus in a small town atmosphere. Students at The Art Institute of Atlanta-Decatur have three options to complete their programs of study: take all classes at the Decatur campus, take some classes at the main campus and some in Decatur, or combine online classes with either of the first two options.
The Book as Art: 21st Century Meets Tradition
Artists’ books take many forms--from handmade and lusciously tactile to linear and informative; abstract and questioning
to sculptural and monumental. Artists’ books can be a delight to the eye and a pleasure to the hand – and can introduce
us not only to new interpretations of an ancient concept but also to questions and ideas on 21st-century form and format.
Artists who observe this world and interpret the idea of the book are the exhibitors in this juried exhibition visually
celebrating the book form. The exhibition, presented in conjunction with the Decatur Arts Alliance, introduces a new and
exciting visual component to the largest independent book festival in the country, the AJC Decatur Book Festival (Aug. 1 – Sept. 1).
Gallery open Mon.-Thurs. 9-7, Fri. 9-5, Sat. 10-3. Artists’ reception: Thursday, Aug. 28, 6-9 pm. The public is invited at no charge.
The Art Institute of Atlanta-Decatur is a branch of The Art Institute of Atlanta.
