Welcome to The Art Institute of Atlanta-Decatur, a branch of The Art Institute of Atlanta!
As a branch campus of The Art Institute of Atlanta, we are located in the city of Decatur on the east side of the greater Atlanta area. A short drive or MARTA ride from downtown Atlanta, in Decatur you’ll find a traditional small-town atmosphere — and the sophistication and excitement of a college town — along with all the benefits of being right in the center of a major metropolis. Decatur has many unique shops, fashion boutiques, theatres, galleries, and businesses focused on creative industries and restaurants that range from casual to gourmet dining. Most attractions within walking distance from the college.
Founded in 1823, Decatur is proud of its history, much of which can be discovered at the Decatur Historical Society, located in the Old Courthouse on the Square right next to the college. A schedule of festivals, concerts, and special events fill the calendar each year. The annual Decatur Arts Festival and the Decatur Book Festival, featuring major authors as well as many other festivals and weekday and weekend concerts throughout the year, make Decatur a destination in Atlanta for many. These events are steps away from the campus.
Public transportation is in very close proximity to the school, making easy accessibility for students who wish to commute from home. Or, for those who do not live within an easily commutable distance, school sponsored housing in Decatur is provided as an option. Decatur’s unique atmosphere truly gives students an opportunity to expand and hone their creative skills.
