Assistant Dean of Academic Affairs

Department: Academic Affairs
Reports to: Dean of Academic Affairs

Position Purpose: The Assistant Dean assists the Dean of Academic Affairs in the effective management and supervision of Academic Affairs. The Assistant Dean will provide counsel to the Dean and will support and implement recommendations made by the Dean and the Executive Committee.

Brief Overview of Selected Key Job Elements:

• Provide leadership and supervision for evenings and weekends, and possibly selected academic programs
• Ensure follow-through and resolution on student issues in Academic Affairs
• Manage, supervise, motivate and/or train faculty and staff
• Provide leadership and support in the management of the Academic Affairs Department to help attain key drivers, including student-instructor ratio, persistence targets, and space utilization
• Work closely with the Department Chairs to meet management expectations and targets
• Provide administrative supervision in scheduling and room utilization and in the registration, advising, and clearance of students
• Promote activities related to registration, advising, and online courses and tutoring, including the academic support center
• Provide input and participate in the evaluations of Department Chairs with the Dean
• Assure compliance with accreditation and licensing requirements.
• Other duties and special projects as assigned and directed by the Dean of Academic Affairs

Required Experience, Skills, and Abilities:
• Minimum of Master’s Degree, preferably a Doctorate, in an area related to AiA programs
• Minimum five (5) years experience in increasingly responsible positions in education with academic management, advising, and teaching experience
• Familiarity with technology and the Ai curriculum
• Proven experience in fiscal and personnel management
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Proven effectiveness as a leader and member of a team
