What Designers Need to Know to Specify Custom Furniture

Even professional interior designers sometimes omit important specifications or make errors when ordering custom furniture! Learn how to avoid common errors and omissions. You’ll learn the properties and common sizes of different types of wood, manmade boards, and plastic laminates. Class discussions include the types and characteristics of cabinets, the variety of wood moldings, and the tools used to produce them. Furniture glues and finishes are discussed and demonstrated, as well as carvings by hand, machine, and molding. ASID CEU value: 0.4
Introduction to CAD

Explore computer aided drafting (CAD), a software package for 2D and 3D design and drafting. The workshop includes examining the hardware that makes up a CAD workstation and the operating system that enables the equipment to function as a unit. You will also learn the fundamentals of how to create precise drawings using geometric constructions with lines, circles, arcs, text, and dimensioning.
Intermediate CAD

Build on your basic knowledge of CAD with more advanced techniques in 2D and 3D design and drafting specific to the interior design profession. Focusing on working drawings, the workshop includes editing and manipulating drawing files and electronic images.
