Explore computer aided drafting (CAD), a software package for 2D and 3D design and drafting. The workshop includes examining the hardware that makes up a CAD workstation and the operating system that enables the equipment to function as a unit. You will also learn the fundamentals of how to create precise drawings using geometric constructions with lines, circles, arcs, text, and dimensioning.
Intermediate CAD

Build on your basic knowledge of CAD with more advanced techniques in 2D and 3D design and drafting specific to the interior design profession. Focusing on working drawings, the workshop includes editing and manipulating drawing files and electronic images.
What Designers Need to Know to Specify Custom Furniture
1 Saturday: February 28

Even professional interior designers sometimes omit important specifications or make errors when ordering custom furniture! In this class, you’ll learn how to avoid common errors and omissions. You’ll learn the properties and common sizes of different types of wood, manmade boards, and plastic laminates. Class discussions include the types and characteristics of cabinets, the variety of wood moldings, and the tools used to produce them. Furniture glues and finishes are discussed and demonstrated, as well as carvings by hand, machine, and molding. The workshop is taught at the studio of George Berry, a master cabinetmaker with 40 years of experience. ASID CEU value: 0.4

This one-day class will show you how to identify vintage and antique furniture of all styles and countries, and covers the history of furniture styles. The class also covers how to appraise what items are worth on various market levels.
