EFFECTS AND COMPOSITING CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION

This six-session program teaches the basics of creating promotional clips and videos that can be used in advertising videos, music videos, or training videos. You will learn basic video camera operation, composition, and storytelling along with the editing tool of Final Cut Pro. By combining the basics of 3D Effects with basic editing and compositing techniques you can create basic video elements. This certificate combines the workshops in Video Production, Introduction to 3D Effects with MAYA, and Video Editing & Compositing.  

VIDEO STREAMING AND MULTIPLE FORMATS CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION

Introduction to Video Production

In this workshop you’ll find out how to produce a video with a punch! Learn the three phases of video production and how these phases can enhance your production. Along with basic video camera operation, you will learn the fundamentals of script preparation, tape logging, storytelling, and composition.    
 
Video Editing & Compositing
1 Saturday & 1 Sunday:  February 21 & 22

In this workshop you will explore basic Final Cut Pro operations along with tape output, video incoding, and basic DVD authoring. You’ll learn to create basic video elements with layering and composting techniques.   

NEW! Intermediate Video Production with 24p
1 Saturday & 1 Sunday: March 7 & 8

Instructor:  Scott Sonnenberg
This workshop takes you from production to post within the digital filmmaking realm of 24p. You will learn how to achieve the highest quality video and sound in a single camera environment. You’ll also explore the differences between progressive video and interlaced video as it relates to storytelling. Along with creating a 24p DVD, you’ll learn to post images and sound. Both Final Cut Pro and Soundtrack Pro for audio sweetening will be used in the post phase. Some experience in digital video editing is recommended.

New Media Delivery for Multiple Formats
1 Saturday & 1 Sunday: February 28 & March 1

This course addresses the end phase of media production – delivery and distribution for multiple formats. You’ll learn encoding methods for streaming video, DVD authoring, Flash video player, and codecs for various media devices.

Introduction to 3D Effects with MAYA
1 Saturday & 1 Sunday: February 7 & 8

Instructor:  Tom Baker
In this workshop you’ll be introduced to the concepts of working with 3D tools to create and manipulate polygonal shapes, from which you can construct objects and settings. This course uses the popular Maya software package, but the concepts discussed apply to most 3D tools, including the “Blender” program available for free download.

Intermediate 3D Effects with MAYA
1 Saturday & 1 Sunday:  March 7 & 8

In this workshop, you will build on the fundamental concepts of 3D tools to create more advanced polygonal shapes, from which you can construct objects and settings. This class is not included in the Effects and Compositing Certificate of Completion.
