Aarron Walter's Web Site Recognized
The Web Standards Project (WaSP) posted a long entry on their home page about the efforts of The Art Institute of Atlanta to document change in the industry initiated by our students, discussing how our students are using Web Standards, and linking to Aarron Walter’s Web Standards Documentary Project page where they can listen to student stories from the front lines. It is an honor to be included, as many of the major leaders in the industry visit the site, or are members of WaSP themselves (Jeffrey Zeldman, Molly Holschlag, Jeremey Keith, Andy Clarke, etc.). “Of all endorsements to get for the department, this is as good as it gets!” Aarron says. Check out the organization’s Web site: http://webstandards.org/.
The Web Standards Project is a grassroots coalition fighting for standards that ensure simple, affordable access to Web technologies for all.
There are numerous other WaSP individuals blogging about or linking to the project from their personal sites. According to Dr. Ameeta Jadav, chair of the interactive media department, “We are very proud to have Aarron as part of our faculty. In the recent past, he has made waves in the industry that are sure to benefit the IMD department and AIAtlanta in the short- as well as long-term.”
In addition, faculty member and interactive designer Aarron Walter’s Web site (www.aarronwalter.com) has been selected as the site of the day on the Daily Slurp, a design portal. (http://www.dailyslurp.com/default.aspx)
“It comes at a good time since I recently posted information on the home page of my blog about the IMD curriculum and Web Standards. I created a page with audio testimonials from our students sharing stories about how they have introduced their employers to Web Standards, and are making changes in the industry,” Aarron said.
Congratulations, Aarron!
