Who will be my roommate?
As much as possible, roommates are assigned based on the common interests and habits listed on the housing application.
What about utilities?
The cost of electricity, local telephone service, basic cable service, and trash pick-up are included in the overall fees for housing.
Is there security in housing?
Yes. Art Institute apartments are located in gated communities. In addition, professional staff and student resident assistants live among students in housing and are available to assist 24 hours a day.
Is parking available?
Yes. Parking is available at all locations; however, students must register their cars at the Residence life Office at Metro Pointe lofts. There is a charger for the parking decal at Metro Points Lofts.
What furnishings are provided?
Each apartment is furnished with beds, dressers, a sofa and lounge chairs, dining table and chairs, refrigerator, stove, microwave, and washer and dryer. TV provided in the living room at Metro pointe.
How many students live in an apartment?
Apartments at Metro Pointe lofts have 4 bedrooms with 4 baths and a private bedroom and bathroom for each student. Windsor at Mount Vernon has 2 bath and 2 bedrooms with a choice of a single or double occupancy.
Can I receive accommodations for my disability in student housing?
If you are a student who has a documented disability, as defined in the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, you may be eligible to receive housing accommodations. You should first apply and be accepted at The Art Institute of Atlanta and apply for college housing. Once you have received housing confirmation, notify the disabilities services coordinator of your request for accommodations.
What if I don't drive?
Atlanta's public transportation system MARTA serves the metro area with both rail and bus service. Dunwoody and Windsor at Mount Vernon are located within walking distance of AiA. Metro Pointe students use Marta to travel between AiA and Metro Pointe. A shuttle, dedicated only to Metro Pointe students provides service to housing. Discounted MARTA passes are sold in our Supply Store.
Are there facilities for washing and drying my clothes?
Yes. A washer and dryer are available at all locations.
May I bring my own computer?
Although computers connected to the Internet are available in the Computer Lab, you are welcome to bring your own. You will be responsible for making arrangements with a service provider of your choice using the installed local telephone line.
May I have guests in my apartment?
Guests are welcome during daily visiting hours as long as they don't disturb other students in the apartment.
Where can I pick up mail?
Mailboxes are conveniently located near your apartment.
What should I bring?
Aside from personal items, you may want to bring linens, kitchen utensils, cleaning supplies, an alarm clock, stereo/radio, and television set.
What does it cost to live in student housing?
The 2009-2010 cost ranges from $3328 to $4577 per quarter or $9984 to $13,731 per academic year. Contracts starting in winter, spring, or mid-quarter are also available. Housing rates are subject to change without notice.
Can housing fees be included in my financial aid package?
The cost of Art Institute housing can, in most cases, be included in your financial aid package.
