Student Facilities
The Art Institute of Atlanta gallery

The Art Institute of Atlanta is housed primarily in a five-story, 115,000-square-foot building in a beautifully landscaped office park about fifteen minutes north of city center. Each of the five floors offers the industry-related technology required for a career-focused, hands-on education.

At The Art Institute, you'll find professional equipment and resources along with experienced faculty. This is preparation for the real thing.

Completed in 1999, the 115,000-square-foot campus building features:

  • Offices, classrooms, library, computer, and art labs wired for Internet access
  • Multicamera video studio with digital video editing suites featuring AVID Xpress Pro, AVID Media Composer Adrenaline, and Final Cut Pro.
  • Digital audio lab suites complete with a Solid State Logic (SSL) G+ console with automation, ProTools, DIGI002 hardware, 12- and 16-channel mixers, sound recording booth, studio monitors, and a surround sound editing suite.
  • Computer labs with both MAC and PC platforms and software including: Adobe CS3 Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, SoundBooth, and Premiere), Dreamweaver, Flash, Character Studio, ToonBoom, Director, DVD Studio Pro, Eye-One Match, Final Cut Pro, Corel Painter, Maya, ProTools, Autocad, and more.
  • Professional photography studios and darkroom facilities, including G5 Mac computer stations with color-calibrated monitors, and Epson 320, 380, 2400, 4800, 4000, and 4000 Piezography printers as well as Imacon film scanners and Epson V700 and 1641 photo scanners.
  • Five teaching kitchens and a dining lab open to the public
  • Library with more than 40,000 items, including books, DVDs, video tapes, and CD-ROMs as well as access to other college and university libraries through Galileo
  • Additional space in a second building was completed in 2007, featuring a CAD computer lab and interior design resource room, as well as classrooms and design labs wired for Internet access

In fall 2003, the college expanded to a neighboring building to house the interior design department with additional classrooms, computer lab, student lounge, and office space. Since then, faculty from other departments and more classroom space has been added.
