Graduate Success:
Of all 2007 graduates of The Art Institute of Atlanta available for employment, 90.8% were working in a field related to their program of study within six months of graduation earning an average starting salary of $32,967. In the past, our graduates have been employed by companies such as Electronics Graphics Group, Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Russell Corporation, Disney, The Weather Channel, StudioCom, InZone, Buckhead Life Group, IBM Interactive, Parallax Design Studios, Time Warner, Brinker International, Marriott International, Ritz-Carlton Hotels, The Coca-Cola Company, CNN, Fox Entertainment Group, Caribiner Audio Visual Services, Design Continuum, Scient, Niles Bolton & Associates, Sodexho, and Spectra Graphix.

Technical Facilities:

Completed in 1999, the 115,000-square-foot campus building features:

  • Offices, classrooms, library, computer, and art labs wired for Internet access
  • Multicamera video studio with digital video editing suites featuring AVID Xpress Pro, AVID Media Composer Adrenaline, and Final Cut Pro.
  • Digital audio lab suites complete with a Solid State Logic (SSL) G+ console with automation, ProTools, DIGI002 hardware, 12- and 16-channel mixers, sound recording booth, studio monitors, and a surround sound editing suite.
  • Computer labs with both MAC and PC platforms and software including: Adobe CS3 Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, SoundBooth, and Premiere), Dreamweaver, Flash, Character Studio, ToonBoom, Director, DVD Studio Pro, Eye-One Match, Final Cut Pro, Corel Painter, Maya, ProTools, Autocad, and more.
  • Professional photography studios and darkroom facilities, including G5 Mac computer stations with color-calibrated monitors, and Epson 320, 380, 2400, 4800, 4000, and 4000 Piezography printers as well as Imacon film scanners and Epson V700 and 1641 photo scanners.
  • Five teaching kitchens and a dining lab open to the public
  • Library with more than 40,000 items, including books, DVDs, video tapes, and CD-ROMs as well as access to other college and university libraries through Galileo
  • Additional space in a second building was completed in 2007, featuring a CAD computer lab and interior design resource room, as well as classrooms and design labs wired for Internet access

Special Features:
The Art Institute of Atlanta Gallery, designed by Stan Topol Interior Design, is the site of continually changing exhibits open to the public throughout the year. The Gallery is open without charge to the public, as are the opening receptions for each exhibit.

The Visiting Artist Lecture Series offers several culturally enriching lectures annually, relating to the college’s applied arts programs for the benefit of students, faculty, and the community. Lectures are free and open to the public.

Open to the public, Creations, the college’s teaching dining room, provides culinary arts students with culinary, dining room management, and business skills, while offering gourmet cuisine and white linen service.

Continuing and Professional Education:
SmartFun offers noncredit workshops for the public. The PersonalTrack program offers an opportunity for people who want to advance their career skills without enrolling in a full degree program. Each summer, the Summer Studio offers high school students an opportunity to spend a week learning skills in a program area, creating projects, and getting a sample of a career field.

Tradition:
The Art Institute of Atlanta has a tradition of quality, career-focused education. Founded in 1949 as Massey Business College, the college became The Art Institute of Atlanta in 1975 and is proud of its more than 50-year legacy of education for career success.
