Learning Options

The Art Institutes system of schools offers three different ways to earn your degree, each uniquely tailored to your schedule, lifestyle, and what you need to get moving on your career goals right now. Which option works best for you?

Traditional Learning Option
If when you think of going to college, you envision being in a classroom and personally interacting with faculty, staff, and fellow students, this option is for you. You may benefit from a traditional learning environment if you learn best when you are with others and thrive on social experiences. This option, which is available at The Art Institute of Atlanta, is ideal if you plan to attend college full time and don’t have additional demands on your schedule.

Plus Learning Option
If you feel most comfortable learning in a traditional classroom, but see real benefits to taking some courses online, check out this option. Blending traditional and online studies could be the perfect solution to completing your education while working around your busy schedule. This option is available at The Art Institute of Atlanta. The Art Institute of Atlanta offers selected online courses through a consortium agreement with The Art Institute of Pittsburgh — Online Division. Click here for more information about the Plus Learning Option.

In order to enroll in online courses, students must meet certain requirements. Registration for online courses must be discussed with the student's advisor during registration each quarter. Other points to consider include:

  • An online course has the same course and exit competencies as the "on-site version" of the same course. Online courses are designed to ta ke advantage of technology, making the learning environment more efficient and maximizing relevance to your prior learning and experiences.
  • The Art Institute of Atlanta charges the same tuition for online courses as it charges for on-site courses. In addition, a $100 fee is charged for each online course. The fee covers administration and technical support for students.
  • A self-administered survey about online courses is available on The Art Institute of Pittsburgh — Online Division Web site to assist students in determining whether they are good candidates for online classes. Before registering for an online course, students should speak to their advisors at The Art Institute of Atlanta to discuss their interests, the type of learning activities with which they are most comfortable, and the amount of time they have available in their schedule to pursue online courses. The advisor can recommend the most appropriate course types and course load.
  • In order to participate in online classes, students must have computer hardware and software equivalent to the specifications indicated by The Art Institute of Atlanta. Prior to registration each quarter, The Art Institute of Atlanta provides students with a list of courses to be offered online.
  • Students register for online courses during the regular registration period at The Art Institute of Atlanta.
  • The resources of the student financial services office at The Art Institute of Atlanta are available to students who are studying either entirely or partly through an online program.
  • Faculty members who teach the online courses possess the same subject matter credentials and experience requirements as faculty who teach the same course on-ground. In addition, all faculty who teach online are required to successfully complete a six-week online training course. In most cases, faculty who teach online courses teach the same courses on-ground with The Art Institutes system.
