Who will be my roommate?
As much as possible, roommates are assigned based on the common interests and habits listed on the housing application.

What about utilities?
The cost of electricity, local telephone service, basic cable service, and trash pick-up are included in the overall fees for housing.
Is there security in housing?
Yes. Art Institute apartments are located in gated communities. Professional staff and student resident assistants live among students in housing and are available to assist 24 hours a day. Courtesy officers who live at the housing location also provide security for students in housing.

Is parking available?
Yes. Parking is available at no charge. Note that there is a charge for on-campus parking. See the Student Handbook for more details.

What furnishings are provided?
Each apartment is furnished with beds, dressers, a sofa and lounge chairs, dining table and chairs, refrigerator, stove, microwave, washer, and dryer.

How many students live in an apartment?
Apartments house 4 students in each 2 bedroom/2 bath unit.

Can I receive accommodations for my disability in student housing?
If you are a student who has a documented disability, as defined in the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, you may be eligible to receive accommodations in housing. You should first apply and be accepted at The Art Institute of Atlanta and apply for college housing. Once you have received housing confirmation, notify the disabilities services coordinator of your request for accommodations.
What if I don't drive?
College-sponsored housing is within walking distance of the campus. In addition, shuttle service runs on a regular schedule between housing, the campus, and the Sandy Springs MARTA station. MARTA, Atlanta's public transportation system, serves the metro area with both rail and bus service. Discounted MARTA passes are sold in our Supply Store.
Are there facilities for washing and drying my clothes?
Yes. A washer and dryer are available in each apartment.
May I bring my own computer?
You are welcome to bring your computer with you. You will be responsible for making arrangements with a service provider of your choice using the installed local telephone line.

May I have guests in my apartment?
Guests are welcome during daily visiting hours as long as they don't disturb other students in the apartment.

Where can I pick up mail?
Mailboxes are conveniently located near your apartment.

What should I bring?
Aside from personal items, you may want to bring linens, kitchen utensils, cleaning supplies, an alarm clock, stereo/radio, and television.

What does it cost to live in student housing?
The 2010-2011 cost is $2800 per quarter or $8400 per academic year. Contracts starting in winter, spring, or mid-quarter are also available. Housing rates are subject to change without notice.
Can housing fees be included in my financial aid package?
The cost of Art Institute housing can, in most cases, be included in your financial aid package.
