Assistant Director of Admissions

Responsible for recruiting qualified applicants for admissions to The New England Institute of Art (NEiA). The Assistant Director of Admissions (ADA) manages his/her time and inquiry resources to achieve monthly application, and quarterly and annual enrollment plans. The ADA must conduct a high quantity of prospect phone contacts to secure weekly standard appointment set and interview activity, and to conduct follow-up activity with unresolved interviewees and future class applicants. The ADA is responsible for conducting all recruitment activities in accordance with state and federal accreditation and Institute policies and regulations, consistent with the highest ethical standards. 

Key Job Elements:

  • Manage inquiries to achieve prompt contact and performance activity weekly goals; utilizes Ai approved recruitment policies/formats; makes prompt and effective contact with
  • inquiries and redirects unqualified candidates based upon incompatible career goals.
  • Secures new inquiries (Personally Developed Referrals) by directly asking phone and in-person contacts about referrals of others to contact about the Institutes offerings.
  • Schedules and conducts interviews. Pursues qualified candidates for enrollment.
  • Determines appropriateness of candidates for admission based upon career goal compatibility.
  • Achieves enrollment and start rate goals.
  • Accurately and completely portrays Institute educational programs, expected outcomes, student services, and financial consideration to students, parents and educators.
  • Consistently conducts follow-up monthly at minimum with all applicants to ensure successful matriculation. Assists other personnel and departments with data collection and problem solving.
  • Participates in appropriate recruitment and enrollment activities including: open houses, regional presentations, training sessions, orientation programs, career days, etc.
  • Accurately forecasts projected new students on a periodic basis for Director of Admissions.
  • Conducts all activities in accordance with the highest ethical standards. Adheres to all state, and federal accreditation and institute rules and regulations regarding student recruitment.

Organizational Relationships:  
Reports to: Director of Admissions; Associate Director of Admissions (if assigned)  
Interacts with: Outside clients (potential students and their parents), staff and faculty.       

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years non-durable goods sales and/or customer service experience preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Able to work with people from a variety of socio-economic and cultural backgrounds.
  • Ability to work independently and make decisions based on general guidelines.
  • Possess a sincere interest in helping others achieve life goals.
  • Is goal oriented and highly ethical.

Indirect:  Student persistence, school image, revenue. 

Environment:
The environment is dynamic and goal oriented requiring multitasking responsibilities at all times. This position requires the ability to work effectively with a variety of personalities both within the school and with the public. A caring, persistent, persuasive, goal oriented and self directed nature is essential. Must possess a desire and ability study, practice and obtain additional knowledge and skills on an ongoing basis to remain well versed in program offerings, recruitment techniques, policies and procedures. The operating environment has extensive weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual performance targets to be met and requires strict adherence to all regulatory requirements and internal policies. The position works extensively with support enrollment team department personnel including financial planning, education, and housing. Outside contacts include prospective students and applicants, their families and guests, high school teachers and other sources of referrals such as government agencies.
