The Center for Professional Development (CPD) is dedicated to providing hands-on, skills-based education and training in the design and media fields by industry-experienced faculty. Programs are geared toward both novices and those already working in the field that are seeking retraining, enhanced creativity, and increased marketability. Coursework focuses on design and communication processes and project-based instruction. The programs reflect the college's belief in lifelong learning and individual betterment.

Method of Instruction (For All Programs Except Photography)Instructional methods at The New England Institute of Art include lectures, demonstrations, labs, oneonone tutorials and periodic examinations. With the exception of Internetbased classes offered through Plus Learning, internships and field trips, all instruction is conducted in a classroom setting.
Method of Instruction (For Photography Program Only)The Photography Department strongly encourages diversity of all types in the pursuit of creative solutions, the development and appreciation of aesthetics, and the desire to generate compelling questions and encourage a visual culture based upon individual curiosity. Instructional methods include lectures, handson demonstrations, lab use, oneonone tutorials, and periodic examinations. With the exception of Internetbased classes offered through Plus learning and internships, all instruction is conducted in a classroom setting.
