New England Institute of Art Converts to Quarterly System for the Academic Calendar
Effective January 2013, The New England Institute of Art will convert from a semester
system to a quarter system. With approvals from the Massachusetts Board of Higher
Education and The New England Association of Schools and Colleges, The New England
Institute of Art has new curricula for all of its programs to reflect the transition
to the quarter system.
The fundamental difference between the semester system and the new quarter system
is that instead of offering three semesters of 15 weeks per year, four quarters
of 11 weeks per year will be offered. The conversion to the quarter system only
affects the academic schedule, and all coursework has been adapted. The academic
program and degrees do not change. The tuition has also been adjusted to the quarter
system, and the costs of programs do not change unless there is a general tuition
increase in the Fall.
The New England Institute of Art, its faculty and staff have worked for several
years to ensure a seamless transition. If students and/or parents have questions
about this change, do not hesitate to contact the office of the president or the
admissions department at 800-903-4425.
