MINDSCAPES
Art Institutes in Boston and New York City Host Art Show and Auction to raise Funds for Depression Research
The New England Institute of Art and The Art Institute of New York City today announced a collaboration to host the first bi-annual two-city gallery show, MINDSCAPES, culminating with a Boston art auction, to benefit the Depression Clinical Research Program at Massachusetts General Hospital. (MGH)
The juried art show will kick off at the Gallery at The Art Institute of New York City in Tribeca, from September 24 to September 29, with a reception on September 24.
The show will then travel to the Gallery on the Plaza at The New England Institute of Art in Brookline, where it will be on view from October 5 to October 14.
The artwork will be auctioned at a gala dinner, hosted by local and network media celebrity Sara Edwards, at Boston's Copley Place Marriott Hotel on Saturday October 15, with a silent auction as part of the event. All proceeds will go to raise awareness and fund the research being done in the area of depression at MGH.
"We are on the threshold of understanding the neurobiological mechanisms of depressive illness which will pave the way for improvement in treatment of depression and ultimately, for early identification of people effected," says Maurizio Fava, MD, Associate Chief of Psychiatry and Director of the Depression Clinical and Research Program.
"The Art Institutes are honored to participate in MINDSCAPES and to support the significant contributions being made by MGH toward the understanding and treatment of depression," says Stacy L. Sweeney, President of The New England Institute of Art.
"We are pleased to be part of this effort. A great strength of The Art Institutes is our ability to work together and support each other's initiatives to help our communities. This exhibition will put our gallery in TriBeCa to very good use," says Tim Howard, President of The Art Institute of New York City.
