Audio & Media Technology Facilities

Facilities for Audio Production and Audio & Media Technology The Audio Production Department facilities include seven music and audio production studios, including two digital post production studios and a computer music lab. The studios provide a wide variety of production tools for students to learn and experience the many stages and techniques of audio production. 

Audio Studio A is The New England Institute of Art most advanced control room with a [36]-channel automated SSL SL6000E/G+ mixing console, an Otari MX80 2" 24-track tape machine, and 24 tracks of digital audio (DA88s) as well as a [32] I/O ProTools HD3 system. The console's computer records project and mixdown information and controls the VCA fader automation. Audio A is used for Advanced Mixing and Advanced Recording classes where students learn to run full music recording sessions in a professional environment. 


Audio Studio B is designed for intermediate multitrack recording. Students work with 24-track analog and 24-track digital formats. The studio includes a 48-channel tridet series 80 5.1 with 24 channels of moving fader automation as well as the latest in effects and processing equipment. Two Macintosh computers are integrated into the system for automation, digital editing and MIDI sequencing. 

Audio Studio C is designed for students to learn audio recording basics. The studio is equipped with 24 tracks of digital audio (DA88s), a 32 channel automated mixing console, and outboard effects processors. 


Audio Studios D & E are designed for digital audio recording and editing. Students work with a 16 I/O ProTools HD2 digital editing system along with 8 tracks of digital audio tape (DA88). The studio is equipped with a 32-channel console, outboard processing gear and a video system with a 72-inch projected video screen for synching sound to pictures. 


Audio Studio F contains nine audio work stations which include a 16-channel mixing console an 8-track digital audio (da78), dat and cdr's as well as four channels of processing and effects. There is an isolation booth for demonstration and student projects. 


Audio Studio G, it is our latest studio on campus.


The Digital Audio Lab is equipped with keyboards, samplers, MacIntosh computers, ProTools LE and related software. Studios are available to students for practice and projects during non-class hours.
