Student at Brookline College Designs Way to Oktoberfest

- (April 14, 2003)

Jim Antonellis, a Graphic Design student at The New England Institute of Art & Communications has created the winning poster design for Paulaner Beer, this fall's Oktoberfest in Munich and a $2400 check for his efforts.

Antonellis, 24, entered the poster design contest last fall. "I thought that a carousel, using images of beer steins instead of horses would capture the spirit of Oktoberfest and I guess the judges did too."

Paulaner Beer, the original sponsor of the contest is now owned by Fischer Beverages International and is a subsidiary of Heineken N.V. The company offered the option of paying for airfare, hotel and food for Antonellis and a guest to attend the festivities in Munich this October, or a cash equivalent.

Antonellis also recently won a design contest for creating the cover of the New Hampshire Review Magazine that was distributed to businesses throughout the Granite State and was sold at Barnes and Noble. He has been named to the Dean's List at The New England Institute of Art & Communications for every semester and plans to pursue a career in graphic design. "I love making changes of mood. I'd like to create more magazine and CD covers."
