Digital Filmmaking & Video Production Facilities
The New England Insititute of Art currently operates a multi-camera television studio. In this studio, students learn all facets of studio production, including directing, camera operation, lighting, audio, editing, switching and on-camera performance as well as producing and script writing.
Students also execute field production projects with specialized field equipment. An additional digital nonlinear editing facility offers an alternative to analog tape-based postproduction access.
Videotape can be digitized and edited onto a computer timeline with great flexibility on AVID and Final Cut Pro. Students also learn and practice digital effects, computer graphics and 3D animation.
All Independent Radio webcasts on the Internet. While enrolled at The New England Institute of Art, our students work to get a show on this international outlet. Our programs are unique to the area, as we play and highlight the local music scene. We interview and feature bands, songwriters and singers from Boston, many of whom record on our Naked Ear Record label. All Independent Radio is yet another opportunity to prepare our students for life at radio stations. Studio-based classes in the Broadcast area are typically limited to a maximum of 20 students.
Student Access to Studios
Access to production and recording studios is an essential component of the educational process at The New England Institute of Art. The college emphasizes consistent and regular student access to all studios beyond the scheduled class hours. Studio operations personnel are available to assist students during access periods. Specific access rules and regulations are published periodically by the College.
