Academic Achievement Center
Academic Achievement Center

Students in need of extra academic support for succeeding in a class may use the services of the Academic Achievement Center located on the main campus in the Student Center building. The Academic Achievement Center provides tutoring support, at no additional charge, in many subject areas and can also assist students who need additional help with test-taking strategies, time management and other academic issues. Students will be matched with a peer tutor who has successfully completed the course. If specialized support in reading, writing, math or study strategies is required, an appointment can be made with an assigned Academic Advisor.

Students may use the services of the Academic Achievement Center either by self-referral or referral from their instructors. Students seeking the services of the Academic Achievement Center can request assistance by stopping by the Center in Room 161 next to Student Affairs (below the library) to make an appointment. To request a tutor, please fill out a tutor request form and submit to the Academic Achievement Coordinator. You may also contact the Coordinator by phone, email or in person to discuss resources.

Students may also apply to become peer tutors by completing an application form available in the Center. To become a peer tutor, it is required that a student has at least a B+ in the content area that is being tutored and maintain a 3.0 grade point average. Applicants will be interviewed by the Academic Achievement Coordinator who supervises the Peer Tutor Program.
