Q. How do I make a counseling appointment?
A. Counseling appointments can be made either by calling the Counseling Center directly at 1-800-903-4425 ext. 4477 or by stopping by the Center in Student Affairs.

Q. Are appointments confidential?
A. Yes. Everything shared in a counseling session in confidential between the student and the counselor unless the student appears to be a danger to himself or to others. Family members, staff, and faculty, can be involved in the counseling at the discretion and permission of the student through a signed waiver of consent.

Q. What is short-term counseling?
A. Short-term counseling is counseling that is solution focused. After a thorough assessment, the counselor and student may set goals for treatment and work actively toward that goal. Short-term counseling is approximately 10 sessions. Upon completion of those 10 sessions, the student may be referred out to longer-term counseling or to a counselor with a specific area of expertise, if the counselor and student see fit.

Q. How long is a session?
A. A session is approximately 50 minutes.
