The Art Institute of Charleston Presents Artwork by Lynne Riding: Drawing A Line

(Charleston, S.C. — April 17, 2009) The Art Institute of Charleston is pleased to announce that the artwork of Lynne Riding will be on display in the school's gallery at 24 North Market Street in downtown Charleston during the 2009 Spoleto Festival.  The public is invited to a reception to open Riding's show on Tuesday, May 19, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the school. Riding, a full-time faculty member at the school and an internationally acclaimed artist, will display her artwork from May 18 through July 10, 2009.

"Drawing forms the basis of my work. It always seems to surface, even within my painting. It is my way of observing or expressing a truth," explains Riding.  On considering the nature of this exhibit, and because Riding is teaching the students at The Art Institute of Charleston, she decided to show a selection of work that spans a few years.  It also shows the process of how her work evolves from the field, outdoors on location, all the way through to a finished studio piece. From the representational work to the abstract.

The Art Institute of Charleston gallery hours: Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. until  9:00 p.m. and Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.
