The Art Institute of Charlotte Partners with Crisis Assistance Ministry for National Week of Service

Students, faculty and staff of The Art Institute of Charlotte are partnering with Crisis Assistance Ministry of Charlotte to assist those in need during National Week of Service April 19-25.

Since its founding as the American Business & Fashion Institute (AB&F) in 1973, The Art Institute of Charlotte has been actively involved in pro bono projects with nonprofit community agencies and activities ranging from Communities in Schools to the March of Dimes to Share Our Strength’s Taste of the Nation.

This spring, The Art Institute of Charlotte has partnered with Crisis Assistance Ministry to collect goods and provide volunteer help to the agency which provides assistance and advocacy for people in financial crisis, helping them move toward self-sufficiency.

Members of Chroma, the student fine arts club, spent an evening creating art work for Crisis Assistance Ministry.  Other students, faculty and staff are donating goods and volunteering their time in whatever capacities they are needed at Crisis Assistance next week.

During the partnership with crisis assistance, The Art Institute of Charlotte will inaugurate a new General Education elective course called Community Service. The class members’ first project will be volunteer service next week at Crisis Assistance Ministry.

“Participating in the National Week of Service complements our campus environment of serving our students and serving the community where we live and work,” Brad L. Janis, President of The Art Institute of Charlotte, said.  “Giving back to the community is always the right thing to do and we are proud of the work and support our faculty, staff and students have put into this important effort.”

In addition to working with Crisis Assistance Ministry, The Art Institute of Charlotte will be involved with other nonprofit community activities next week.
